SEMUT_IBRAHIM | JAKARTA – More than 30 tents were burned along with the civilians inside last night (Wednesday, October 16, 2024), a particularly horrific massacre that Israel carried out at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital in Deir El-Balah according to local sources.
Israeli occupation forces have violated international law, the Geneva Conventions governing the protection of civilians and refugees under the laws of war.
Fourth Geneva Convention: Providing protection to civilians, including in occupied territories.
Anies Baswedan, an Indonesian figure of change, responded to Israel’s atrocities for this very heinous violation of international law.
The following is Anies Baswedan’s response to the Israeli attack that burned alive civilians at the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital via a post on Twitter (X):
“The bombing of tents sheltering displaced Palestinians at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah by Israel is beyond devastating.
The horrifying images of Shaban Al-Dalou, his mother Alaa Al-Dalou, and other civilian being burned alive are unbearable, a stain on our collective conscience. That such atrocities are unfolding in 2024 is not only unthinkable but a profound shame for all humanity.
The collective failure of the global community to act decisively in the face of this ongoing atrocity is a profound betrayal of humanity’s shared values. This inaction, from nations across the world, is an indictment of our collective conscience, a devastating reminder that the moral responsibility to prevent such horrors has been forsaken by all.
Israel must be unequivocally condemned, and this genocide must end now. We cannot afford to stand idle any longer.“
